Jalgaon Local Body Election Results 2025: Mahayuti secures strong lead, BJP wins from Bhusawal

Polling for Municipal Councils (Nagar Parishads) and Nagar Panchayats across Maharashtra was held on December 2 and December 20 in two phases. The ruling Mahayuti alliance emerged as the single largest group in the Maharashtra municipal elections, winning 207 of the 288 seats that went to polls, according to the State Election Commission. The BJP led the tally with 117 seats, followed by Shiv Sena with 53 and the NCP with 37. The opposition parties won fewer seats: Congress secured 28, Shiv Sena (UBT) claimed nine, and the NCP-SP alliance won seven seats. The Mahavikas Agadi coalition managed victories in 44 constituencies. Other registered parties from outside Maharashtra won four civic bodies, while candidates from unrecognised parties took 28 seats, and independents claimed five. In Jalgaon district, the Mahayuti alliance has emerged as the dominant force in most municipal councils and nagar panchayats. Sadhana Mahajan, wife of Minister Girish Mahajan, was elected unopposed as the mayor of Jamner. Mahayuti secured victories in Amalner, Bhadgaon, Bhusaval, Chalisgaon, Chopda, Faizpur, Pachora, Parola, Raver, Savda, and Varangaon. The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) won in Dharangaon and Yawal, while Shiv Sena claimed Erandol. Overall, Mahayuti continues to maintain a strong hold across the district.

Unwell actor-politician Govinda leaves campaign trail in Jalgaon, comes back to Mumbai

Govinda, who was in Jalgaon to campaign in Muktainagar, Bodwad, Pachora and Chopda, returned to Mumbai. In Pachora, Govinda held a roadshow, which he halted midway after feeling unwell. During the roadshow, he asked people to stand by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and vote for the ruling alliance comprising BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP. Govinda, a former Congress Lok Sabha MP, who joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, was hospitalised recently after getting wounded in the leg due to accidental discharge of his gun in his Mumbai home.

Damaged Eardrum, Bloody Nose: Maharashtra Doctor Thrashed By Patient’s Family

A doctor was left with a ruptured eardrum and a bloody nose following an attack by the relatives of a patient at a hospital in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon. Mohit Gadiya, a junior resident doctor, saw that the ward where people injured in firecracker explosions were being treated was overcrowded, according to the police complaint. Just before the assault happened on Friday, Gadiya was treating one of the patients in the crowded ward. He then asked the family members of a patient to wait outside due to crowding in the treatment room. However, they refused to leave and thrashed the doctor, throwing strong punches at him several times. When they saw blood coming out of the doctor’s nose, the family that attacked the doctor took the patient to another hospital.

The first project involves the construction of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sports Complex in Karad, awarded by the Public Works Department (West), Satara. The second and larger contract is for building a Divisional Sports Complex in Jalgaon, commissioned by the Divisional Sports Complex Committee. Union Minister Raksha Khadse inaugurates 38th National Under-11 Championship

In August 2025, Jalgaon district in Maharashtra hosted the 38th National Under‑11 Chess Championship, a major national event for young chess talent from across India. The championship took place from 2 to 8 August 2025 at the Anubhūti School venue in Jain Hills, Shirsoli Road, Jalgaon under the aegis of the All India Chess Federation and with support from the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. The event was inaugurated with grandeur by Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Nikhil Khadse, who formally declared the championship open during a ceremony attended by dignitaries including Member of Parliament Smita Wagh, leading chess officials, and sports association representatives.
